조예현 박사는 초음파 뇌 자극과 뇌 신호 측정이 동시에 가능한 폐쇄루프(Closed-loop) 알고리즘과 MRI 호환 소형 초음파 소자를 구현했으며, 초음파 자극으로 뇌 세포와 회로를 특이적으로 활성화할 수 있는 프로토콜 개발과 뇌 오가노이드 초음파 자극 플랫폼 구축을 통해 차세대 뇌공학 연구의 발전에 기여하고 있다.

원익 차세대 공학도상은 국내 공학 관련 대학(원)생 대상으로 소재·부품·장비 분야에서 창의적이고 도전적인 공학도를 발굴하여 사회문제 해결에 기여하는 엔지니어로 성장할 수 있도록 수여하는 상이다. 

시상식은 3월 10일 오후 서울 광진구 그랜드 워커힐 서울 호텔에서 개최되었다.

Dr. Ye-hyun Cho has developed a closed-loop algorithm capable of simultaneous ultrasound brain stimulation and brain signal measurement, along with MRI-compatible miniature ultrasound devices. By developing protocols for the specific activation of brain cells and circuits through ultrasound stimulation and establishing an ultrasound stimulation platform for brain organoids, Dr. Cho is significantly contributing to the advancement of next-generation brain engineering research.

The Wonik Next-Generation Researcher Award is presented to domestic undergraduate and graduate engineering students in the fields of materials, components, and equipment. The award aims to identify creative and ambitious engineers and support their growth into professional engineers who can contribute to solving societal challenges.

The awards ceremony was held on the afternoon of March 10, 2026 at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
